Home Renovation: One Year On…

July 20, 2015 - No Comments - 2 min read
I cannot believe it has been a year already! Seriously, how? I’m somewhat ashamed to admit we haven’t exactly got far on the house. I had anticipated we would be much further on by the time we had reached a year… but instead we haven’t even finished the first room we began. Oops.
But non-the-less I’m loving life, loving the DIY, loving the house. I really do love it all! Well, perhaps not every day. Some days I hate DIY. But for the most-part, it’s still brilliant! If you want to see a house-tour from last year on moving day, click here.

So what have we achieved in the one year?

The garden. It looked like an overgrown jungle when we moved in. It was hard to even imagine how it would have looked back when it was taken care of – it was all weeds and overgrown plants. But now, there’s lawn and space! We’ve definitely come a fair way. It’s not quite finished yet, but we’ve made awesome progress for sure.
The bathroom. This room smelt really weird when we first moved in. The day we moved in I had to open every single window to disperse this smell. It was not good. We’ve made some progress here, it no longer smells for one! And we’ve also replaced the ceiling, done all the plumbing, plastered and built a stud wall – We’re basically ready for paint and moving everything in soon hopefully!

And, what haven’t we achieved?

Basically… all this:

The basement (if you’re wondering why there are no pics!) is identical to the photos I took last year…. I guess we just don’t go down there very often!

It’s been a pretty fast year, I hope the next year slows down a little… Maybe we’ll actually get some work done then, hah!
