2020 Renovation Plans

Renovations for 2020: What We Have Planned!

January 3, 2020 - No Comments - 3 min read

Gosh, I’m glad to see the back of 2019! It hasn’t been a great year in many ways and I’m totally ready for a new decade. 2020 is a whole new year and of course, we have new house goals we’re hoping to achieve!

I’m not going to lie, I don’t think we’ve managed to complete a full list of our yearly goals as of yet, so don’t expect this whole list to exactly be achieved. BUT, despite that, I do think it helps to have some sort of plan for the year so we know what we’re working towards, even if we can’t achieve it all.

So here we go – our plans for 2020!…

FULL BASEMENT RENOVATION

If this one doesn’t happen this year, I don’t think it ever will!! It’s been on the to-do list for the last two years, so LET’S GET ON WITH IT! We plan on gutting the whole space, adding an office, DIY workshop and also a chill-out area/”man cave”. It’s going to be a BIG project and will probably take most of the year, but I reckon it’ll be so worth it! It’ll be a great space for hosting parties and gatherings without the stress of the kitchen getting destroyed! I’ll share more of our plans for this space real soon!

Victorian Basement Renovation

FINISH THE GARDEN PATH!

The garden has been at 85% finished for a while now. It’s already gone through a total transformation and looks nothing like it once did, but the thing that’s stopping it from actually being FINISHED is the path from the decking to the alley.

We need to smash up the existing concrete path, reduce its width, install proper paving slabs and grow some additional lawn. I would hate to be stuck in the basement over summer, so this one will be good to do when the sun is shining. I hope!

LIVING ROOM ELECTRICS

Whilst we’re dealing with the basement electrics, I would also really love to finish the electrics in the living room. We want to reposition some sockets and add a couple of new ones, so it kinda makes sense to do it all at once. It’s pretty basic, but I’m mentioning it anyway!

DIY ALCOVE UNITS IN THE LIVING ROOM

OK, this is more like a “bonus” project, as knowing us, our budgets, and our lack of time – I’m not too sure we’ll actually be able to achieve this as well as the basement. But ideally, building some DIY alcove units in the living room would be fab! It’s something we want to do eventually, but prioritising money for it – well, that’s a different matter.

Victorian Living Room Renovation

Soooooo that’s it! The to-do list gets shorter and shorter each year I know, but hopefully, this is a good achievable amount. And considering the basement is multiple projects all rolled into one, I reckon we’ll be lucky to even finish it at all. But who knows – it’s a New Year, I’m at the ‘hopeful’ stage right now 😉

What are your house plans for 2020?
