Elliott Sofa from Made.com

October 7, 2014 - No Comments - 3 min read

Two months ago I posted how I’d bought a new sofa blindly from made.com – I thought I’d do an update on it – because after an 8 week wait, it’s finaaallllyyyy here! Can you tell how excited I am? I swear I haven’t watched TV in two whole months, craaazy! I feel like I’m on one of those caveman diets… with the TV. To be perfectly honest I haven’t actually missed it all that much. I mean, I’ve kept ontop of my weekly Eastenders intake via iPlayer on my laptop, but otherwise I haven’t missed it at all. Except perhaps the morning news with my cup of coffee – what’s been happening in the world?! I genuinely just don’t know. But what I have missed, is a sofa!

So how is my new sofa, do I love it as much as I’d hoped? Oh yes, yes I do! It was quite firm on first seating. It’s definitely not a sofa you sink into.. BUT I think this will allow it to soften up without becoming too soft and sunken.. You know, that type of sofa where you sink all the way to the frame and it’s uncomfy as hell? It’s definitely got a good amount of room to sink-in without that happening. It’s quite a deep sofa, but the plump back cushions give you support just where you need it, so you don’t end up slouching. It’s also pretty big too! 3-seater.. more like 4! The colour is lovely, and it’s a kind-of modern twist on a classic sofa.

The texture’s quite rough, but I like this as we have dogs it means it’s fairly scratch-proof. (I actually tested this on the sample fabric I received before I purchased the actual sofa.) It’s also fairly soak-resistant; what I mean by this is that it’s not the sort of fabric that soaks up a spill in an instant, it takes a while to sink in.. It kinda pools for a few minutes first, and even then it doesn’t seem to soak through the fabric, just sort-of wets the top layer – I also tested this on the sample fabric. Which is great because we have lots of spills.

The delivery was pretty good too. They unpacked everything and took away all the packaging which was AWESOME because our bin was actually overspilling at the time. Thanks guys! The only bum-side was that they only give you a 3-hour slot, which leaves you hanging around like a lemon. But that’s not the end of the world.

Apologies for these photos, the lighting in our living room is ghastly, and let’s face it, the surrounding decor of the sofa ain’t doin’ it no favours. I assure you, this looks much more lovely in real life. You can also see it comes with the two back cushions and two smaller ones (not the stripey ones), so you can style it however you please, we’re using the smaller cushions as arm-cushions, as I tend to sit on sofas sideways, with my back against the arm…
