Garden Update

August 21, 2014 - No Comments - 2 min read

Today was the first day in what’s felt like aaages since I got out in the garden and did some work. I could blame the weather, but I’ve just been lazy. Although admittedly, the weather wasn’t on my side today.

I’m trying to get back into a proper routine so I get the most out of the day and actually accomplish stuff. No more lay-ins for me! I’ve even managed to squish in some gym time this week too (it’s been way too long!). I can’t believe England has already turned towards Autumn, it’s still August – what’s going on? I’m feeling a bit rushed for time to get grass growing before Autumns over. I think Spring may be more realistic. At least the dogs will be happy.. Doug’s especially a little digger.

Anyway here’s an update of how things are/aren’t progressing…

I’ve finally moved all those plants that were in front of the shed. Yep, that still needs to be taken away safety. I’ve only had one quote so far but the guy’s wording on it was something like “it’s probably asbestos” which I kinda thought was odd. It either is or isn’t. There is no probably. We only had the phone line put in yesterday (HURRAH!) so it’s been hard to make excessive phone calls on my poor mobile contract to get more guys booked to check it out.

So you may remember I already moved a plant to live next to that spikey plant… Yeah, that died. So the hydrangea now takes it’s place. Or at least until that dies too.. I’m terrible at this excavating roots carefully business. No, I really am.

You remember the rose-bushes I moved.. Well they’re not dead just yet, but I’m not quite sure they’re alive either. That one to the right was the only one that already lived in the brick border… the others are looking like a timeline towards death. I really am terrible at this stuff.

And finally I investigated this concrete diamond feature a little more by digging down beside it. It would seem the concrete is laying on yet more bricks. Just when I thought I’d almost cleared all the rubble…

Here’s all that’s left of that. Don’t worry I’ve picked out the good stuff to keep and reuse 😉

I’m getting my motivation back and hopefully we’re now back on track Just someone bring the summer back too?
