Day 2 of our stay-cation involved much solicitor-chasing with some angry words too I must add. To relieve our stresses we popped into this Waffle Cottage for some tasty lunch grub! We'd been dying to go here for ages but hadn't had the opportunity.
Inside is super quirky and cute. It's reviewed 5* on TripAdviser and ranked #1 restaurant in Newark-on-Trent. They serve both breakfast waffles, savoury waffles and sweet waffles. Their menu is pretty extensive, with gluten-free and dairy-free options. From peanut butter to Irish cream to spicy cajun sausage, there's an option to please all. I was in a savoury mood so opted for the Mushroom, Ham and Cheese.
Grant had the Philly Steak option.
My pictures don't do the food justice! Mainly because I didn't spare enough moments to play around with the best options on my camera before nomming it up. Soz. But I would thoroughly recommend! They were simply delicious. My mouth is watering right now at the thought. Here's a snippet of the inside - I didn't get many pics... Again, I suck. But there were lots of chalk boards with waffle-related quotes and a small child's play area for small babies and toddlers. There was also an outside area. All felt warm and welcoming areas. Oh and the waiter was really lovely and friendly too, definitely 'service with a smile'.
There was even a little shop upstairs selling second-hand books and games and also a little area with hand-made crafts. If you're into your 'Magic The Gathering' (it's a card game) they even hold a game here every Friday and Sunday. I've definitely lost Grant to this.
Who knew our town had so much to offer? I'll definitely be back for a sweet waffle next time!
