Living Room Tour

In the process of waiting to move ahead in our house-selling venture, I thought I would take the time to show off our existing house. I don't have many 'before' photos, and the ones I do have are on an older poor quality camera. So we'll just stick with how the room is now for me to remember when we leave...

So the whole downstairs is open plan - but I'll save the kitchen for later.

I actually hate this fireplace, but so many people told me they liked it, so I thought it would be a waste of money and time to rip it all out and replace. And being gas connected, this wasn't something we could do ourselves anyway. So I stuck with it and just gave it a new fresh white colour paint. (it was a grotty browny/beige before) I don't mind it so much now, but I still don't love it. Definitely something I won't miss.

This cupboard stores all the gas/electric meters and the fuse box, so not any room for storage really.. although I have managed to squish in some paints in there. The doors were already there when we moved in, but they were unpainted pine, the hinges we broken, and there were no handles. We've also added magnets to the doors so they stay shut when you close them. Again, I don't love the doors, but I think with new door-ware and some paint it's made it much better. We added the shelves above, which is just basic wood cut to size and painted.

This TV stand is quite unique actually.. it's made from old railway sleepers and each sleeper is literally just placed into position - there's nothing holding any of it together. So really you can't lean on it unless you want to lose your TV, and you also can't easily move it around the room without taking each bit off. BUT, it came at a bargain price and was handmade by a seller on eBay.. and I love it non-the-less.

I have no love for this sofa but it serves its purpose. Although I love the throw and cushions - all from TK Maxx, which I also love. It's almost my dream shop.

Coat hooks and chest also from eBay.. I fricken love eBay. Can't wait to begin bargain-hunting on there for more living room stuff when we finally move. A new sofa is definitely on the list.. and maybe a coffee table too, who knows. I love this room, I only wish it got more sunlight as I find myself with the lights on pretty much all day long. Not so good for our electric bill... Oops. But there we have it, living room complete with no more room to grow, hence why we're moving.

Sorry... HOPEFULLY moving. Goddammit.
