Cancelling Holiday Plans :(

Last April we were luckily enough to travel across the globe to Florida on an amazing theme-park holiday. It was our first ever holiday and we'd been planning and saving for it for over year - but it was simply incredible! If I could go back tomorrow.. I would. When we got back with our post-holiday blues, we decided to start planning our next holiday for the next year. We decided to do something a bit different this time, and travel through Thailand. We booked the time of work and started saving.

After putting the house up for sale, we decided we wouldn't actually book our holiday until the house-sale went through. Purely because the holiday money became a sort of back-up fund incase things went horribly wrong. Things did go horribly wrong, but so far we haven't had to spend that money.... yet. Although we've certainly come pretty close! With the house-selling being so stressful anyway, I'm sort-of glad we're not on time-limits and having holiday plan deadlines slapped in the middle of our home complications.

The holiday we had planned was to begin the first week of June - that's only a month away, and as time ticks away, it's become certain that we wont be going. I'm slightly gutted, because it's been a year in the making and it's just a huge disappointment. As our work requires us to book time off so far in advance there's no chance to delay it further this year... and to be honest, we'd planned on going at the cheapest time of year - we really don't want to be spending more than necessary. So it'll be another year before we can start our Thailand backpacking tour.

I've toyed with the idea of going somewhere else later in the year on a week we already have booked off work... Somewhere still relatively cheap for that time of year. Perhaps Japan in October? But until house things start moving forward and we finally(!!!!) complete on a sale, I'm reluctant to get my hopes up on any sort of holiday.

I know holidays are a luxury and it really isn't the end of the world..but it's nice to get away, and still makes me feel sad and disappointed. Especially as time is precious and travelling plans can't last forever. Life gets in the way.

Feeling nostalgic, missing you America, we'll see you again one day I'm sure!
