Third time lucky - After having our second set of buyers pull out, less than 24 hours later we had a third buyer. I couldn't believe our luck, we found our second buyer within 24 hours the first time around, it seemed certain we couldn't have the same luck again.. But somehow we did. We've been through such ups and downs in this whole selling process, we've nearly lost the house we're buying twice, and we've managed to just grip onto it both times. Pure luck. This really is our last chance now. The sellers of the house we are buying have been beyond patient and understanding.. If I ever meet them, I cannot thank them enough. Flowers may be sent to their address when this is all over. But I can't imagine them sticking with us should this happen a third time! We've been so lucky and so unfortunate at the same time, I dread another buyer pulling out.
This time is a little different a guess, the buyer is a buying for a buy-to-let. I always wanted our house to go to a first-time buyer. Having been in the position of renting, and know many who do, the way you feel about a rented house, and a house you own, is totally different. There's a lot of up-keep in making a house withstand use. Making sure you wipe up any curry spills on your wooden worktop before it stains forever, for example, removing condensation from windows to ensure they don't go mouldy, keeping white grout white.. This kinda stuff takes effort, effort you don't give a shit about when you rent. I feel slightly sad for this little house. I'm being judgemental of course.
I also wanted it to go to a first-time buyer, because I personally know how hard it is to save for a deposit on a house. And when all the cheap houses get snapped up by investors, you're left saving more money every time. Most of the 2 bed terraces in this area are rented, yet they're the cheapest houses to buy. Total bummer for the not-so-wealthy aspiring buyer. But having had two first-time buyers mess us around, business is business, can't say we didn't try.
So onwards and upwards! It's been a couple of weeks now and nothing has moved forwards... I really hope this isn't a bad sign. Trying to stay positive, but it's pretty damn hard. Will we be out for Easter? I bloody hope so.
